Sage Herb For Relief In Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)
Hyperhidrosis is characterized by excessive sweating often affecting body parts, such as palms, soles, armpits or face. Hyperhidrosis can be primary, when it is caused by changes in parts of the brain that control the production of sweat; or secondary, when caused due to diseases or foods such as coffee and alcohol. A person with hyperhidrosis should consult a vascular surgeon to diagnose the cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
Types of Hyperhidrosis
The types of hyperhidrosis that are generally seen include:
Palmar or plantar: This is characterized by excessive sweating in the hands or feet that usually appears in childhood;
Axillary hyperhidrosis: Excessive underarm sweat that usually comes during adolescence;
Sweating in the face and head: Excessive sweating on the face during the day. This is much more frequent in adults.
The ideal treatment for hyperhidrosis depends on its severity and can be surgical or natural. One form of treatment for hyperhidrosis can be nocturnal administration of an aluminum chloride solution. Aluminum chloride when applied to the palms, soles or underarms treats excessive sweating.
Sometimes procedures like iontophoresis are used with running water. This is a procedure in which a weak electrical current is applied to the affected area. There is also a surgical procedure available that involves surgical removal of the underarm sweat glands. However, this should be the last resort.
Home Remedies for Hyperhidrosis Treatment
An excellent home remedy for excessive sweating is using a deodorant that has sage herb as its main ingredient. Sage has astringent and anti-sudorific properties that help reduce excessive sweating. The daily use of sage can reduce the amount of sweat produced by the body significantly making it a great alternative to clinical treatments for hyperhidrosis. Furthermore, when sage is used along with witch hazel, it is also possible to clean and freshen up the skin, avoiding the characteristic odor of sweat.
Here is how to use sage for best relief in hyperhidrosis
60 ml of witch hazel
30 ml of extract of salvia
10 drops of the extract of grapefruit seeds
Put the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well before every use. Vaporize the underarm whenever necessary.
If the excessive sweating persists, the individual should consult a general practitioner or a vascular surgeon to diagnose the problem and start the appropriate treatment, which may include Botox injections, use of antiperspirant creams or surgery.
