This is what Jenifer Lopez eats to stay in shape
Spoiler alert: there’s a lot of protein involved.
There’s a theory that Jennifer Lopez is constantly Benjamin Button-ing, and we think it’s pretty legit. Somehow the star gets healthier and fitter as the years go by, everyone wondering how on earth she’s doing it.
Over the years J.LO has let slip a few of her secrets, so it’s only right we’re finally putting the pieces of the puzzle together to discover her overall health and wellness regime.
Lopez eats everything organic and is a big fan of the ‘protein and veggies’ combo. In an interview with US Weekly the starlet said that she loves all types of protein from pork to chicken, cooked in Puerto Rican style for extra flavour and spice.
Replace your chippies for fruits and veggies
Jenny from the Block doesn’t go around eating your classic suburban favourites like chips or doughnuts. She’s big on fruits and veggies and always has some handy when she gets peckish, according to an interview with People.
Increase your protein
In an interview with Hello! The singer admits that protein is her saving grace when those 3pm blues come by.
“Protein is my go-to whenever I start having cravings. It fills me up and keeps me full longer. It’s a great muscle fuel.”
She also told news.com.au that she starts her day with a protein shake. “It sets the tone for the day and gives me a lot of energy.” (We’re beginning to see a theme, here.)
Don’t be afraid of indulgence
In all things there must be balance and for this red carpet regular it’s chocolate chips. When confirming their relationship on The View, J.Lo’s latest BF Alex Rodriguez admitted that she’s a fan of these guys, especially in ice cream. (Same, TBH.)
Reduce your alcohol and coffee intake
Now, no one said this would be easy… especially if you take your coffee intravenously. Joking. But seriously. The star has told numerous magazines of her clean lifestyle, which includes no smoking, drinking alcohol or having caffeine. If going cold turkey on these indulgences seems a bit much, you could try opting for decaf and only drinking alcohol on the weekends.
Vary your exercise and include dance
Lopez is known for her killer moves so don’t be afraid to work some Samba classes or Zumba into your routine.
“Dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking to the time to move my body and do something that’s so good for me is key to my happiness,” she told Hello!
According to news.com.au Lopez has two trainers, David Kirsch and Tracy Anderson who have completely different approaches to fitness. Varying exercise will make sure it’s always new and exciting and will also help to ensure even tone throughout the body.
